Books, a little Tumblr and tea ….

Before you ask, yes, I will get round to doing part 2 of the Empty Hearse thing and a general overview of the whole of Sherlock thus far.

But for today …..

 THE A-Z OF BOOK STUFF!

AUTHOR YOU’VE READ THE MOST BOOKS FROM:

Terry Pratchett. He’s written a lot of books okay and I have read nearly all of them!

BEST SEQUEL EVER:

 DON’T MAKE ME DO THIS!

CURRENTLY READING:

Raising Steam by Terry Pratchett and Allegiant by Veronica Roth

DRINK OF CHOICE WHILE READING:

Tea

E-READER OR PHYSICAL BOOK?

Physical book, but I like e-readers too

FICTIONAL CHARACTER YOU PROBABLY WOULD HAVE ACTUALLY DATED IN HIGH SCHOOL:

AL OF THEM (hehe)

GLAD YOU GAVE THIS BOOK A CHANCE:

Larklight Series (thanks George)

HIDDEN GEM BOOK:

It has been brought to my attention that not everyone in the universe has read Good OMens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gamien so does that count? (Go read it. NOW.)

IMPORTANT MOMENT IN YOUR READING LIFE:

Learning to read, discovering my very first Terry Pratchett book (seriously, those books are so much a part of my personality its weird)

JUST FINISHED:

Raven Boys by Maggie Steifvater

KINDS OF BOOKS YOU (GENERALLY) WON’T READ:

Non-fiction. Other than that, I read pretty much anything.

LONGEST BOOK YOU’VE READ:

Umm maybe most of War and Peace? I don’t know!

MAJOR BOOK HANGOVER BECAUSE OF:

oooh, well The Fault In Our Stars  obviously, Home by Nicola Davies, The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp by Rick Yancey, basically any book with an unwritten sequel. OH and of course The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne because who the hell DOESN’T have a book hangover after that?

NUMBER OF BOOKCASES YOU OWN:

Umm maybe 2 I think but they are all double-stacked and lying down on top and in piles all over my floor so I should probably get some more bookcases ….

ONE BOOK YOU HAVE READ MULTIPLE TIMES:

One book? Hmmm … Pride and Prejudice (skipping the bit in the middle where nothing much happens – shh!)

PREFERRED PLACE TO READ:

Blanket fort!

QUOTE THAT INSPIRES YOU/GIVES YOU ALL THE FEELS FROM A BOOK YOU’VE READ:

This isn’t my favourite, but it was the first one I could think of off the top of my head:-

(Also this, which is neither inspirational or sad, just Order of the Phoenix reminded me –

“Is it true that you shouted at Professor Umbridge?”
“Yes.”
“You called her a liar?”
“Yes.”
“You told her He Who Must Not Be Named is back?”
“Yes.”
“Have a biscuit, Potter.” )

READING REGRET:

Not starting reading Harry Potter sooner

SERIES YOU STARTED AND NEED TO FINISH (ALL BOOKS ARE OUT IN SERIES):

The Divergent series (I’m in the middle okay!)

THREE OF YOUR ALL-TIME FAVORITE BOOKS:

Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaimen

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (The increasingly inaccurately named trilogy in five parts) by Douglas Adams

The Chaos Walking Trilogy by Patrick Ness

UNAPOLOGETIC FANGIRL FOR:

Any Terry Pratchett book, Good Omens, Hitchhikers, LOTR, basically anything I love 😀 I don’t tend to apologise for my fangirling.

VERY EXCITED FOR THIS RELEASE MORE THAN ALL THE OTHERS:

The next/last Heroes of Olympus book by Rick Riordan

WORST BOOKISH HABIT:

Using books as bookmarks for other books. I once accidentally made a 6-book-high tower of books I was reading by using them all as bookmarks for each other.

X MARKS THE SPOT: START AT THE TOP LEFT OF YOUR SHELF AND PICK THE 27TH BOOK:

The Boy In The Striped Pajamas by John Boyne

YOUR LATEST BOOK PURCHASE:

More Than This by Patrick Ness

ZZZ-SNATCHER BOOK (LAST BOOK THAT KEPT YOU UP WAY LATE):

More Than This by Patrick Ness (I bought it and finished it in one day – well two since it was 3 am of the next day by the time I’d finished)

So in other news a random guy came to the door I had to go do the  thing where I smush my face up to the window in the room next to the front door to try and see who it is and I have no idea who it is and they didn’t come in a car or I can’t see one and I’m home alone so I’m a little freaked out ……..

UPDATE: I have retreated to the kitchen and am making no noise and pretending I don’t exist in the hope that he will take the hint and go away.

UPDATE #2: I just went to check. He’s still there. What do I do?!?

UPDATE #3: So he has gone. The mysterious man at the door has gone. I guess we will never know what he wanted or where he went …..

Also I was scrolling through Tumblr all casual and drinking tea out of my Doctor Who mug and I saw this:

When people think the only fandoms that exist on Tumblr are Doctor Who, Sherlock, and Supernatural

image

#they’re kind of like the big three greek gods of tumblr though#sherlock is zeus because sherlock’s a pretentious bastard most of the time #doctor who is poseidon because THERE IS NOTHING BUT TEARS #and supernatural is hades because you’re literally in hell half the time

What does that make The Avengers?

The adopted one.

And I got to the end and I LITERALLY SPAT TEA ALL OVER MY LAPTOP and now half the keys aren’t working and the worst part is this isn’t even the first time this has happened.

Hmm, well I think that’s it for today! I keep re-watching Monty Python and Morecambe and Wise sketches, so tomorrow will be a general comedy fest for you all 😀

See you then!

DFTBA,

Beth
